JEWELRY CARE

GENERAL CARE*

Jewelry from Edna Madera Studio can be easily cared for at home.

Sterling Grey Oxidized

Sterling grey pieces have an oxidized finish and can be washed with warm soapy water and patted dry with a lint free towel.  A polishing cloth for silver can also be used gently.  Use care to not overly rub fused gold details.

Stone Washed Finish

To remove tarnish a consumer silver tarnish remover, such as Goddard's Silver Dip or Weiman Instant Tarnish Remover, can be used as directed and washed immediately with warm soapy water then patted dry.  We recommend using a cotton swab dipped in tarnish remover, gently wiping the surface, and rinsing in warm soapy water within 15 seconds to ensure grey oxidation is not affected. Rinse and repeat as needed.  If you prefer a dip method, do not soak pieces for longer than 5 seconds at a time as it can remove the grey oxidation.  Rinse and repeat as needed.

For an eco friendly approach, mix 1/2 cup water, tablespoon of baking soda, and a squeeze of dish soap.  This will make a slurry like paste that you can wash your piece with, rinse and pat dry with lint free towel.

Stone Washed Finis

Using a silver polishing cloth from time to time will keep your piece shiny as it blooms its patina unique to you.  But if you really don't want it to antique, using a liquid tarnish remover as directed, followed by a warm soapy water wash, should chase the grey away.

WARNING

Do not use ultrasonic cleaners as it will damage any gold fused surface design.

Do not soak jewelry in any chemicals or chlorines.

SANITIZING

If sanitizing is needed, can dip or wipe down with isopropyl alcohol and pat dry with a clean lint free towel.   Do not use bleach as it can cause damage to the gold and silver.
